About Michelle: Michelle Macon is a native of Franklin County, NC. She currently resides in Rowan County with her husband, daughter, and two sons. She obtained her Early Childhood Associate's Degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College and her Bachelor of Art's Degree in Birth through Kindergarten Education from Catawba College. Michelle has been working in the early childhood field since 2006 in various roles including a classroom teacher, classroom supervisor, play therapist, administrator, family support advocate and more. The early childhood field is her passion where she engages, empowers, and educates children, families, and educators on a daily basis. Michelle joined the Cornerstone CCDC family in March 2014 as the Executive Director over all facilities. Community Involvement: Executive Board Member of Communities In Schools, Early Care and Education Advocacy Committee for Smart Start Rowan, Member of Diversity In Leadership Alliance.

About Anita: Anita S. Pope, originally from Washington, D.C., has called Rowan County, NC, home since 2017. A lifelong musician and trained oboist, she began her education journey at Hampton University as a Music Education major before completing her Bachelor of Science in Education Studies with honors at UAGC. Anita's passion for children sparked at an early age, playing pretend school and teaching her younger family members the basics at her grandmother's house. Since 2006, she has worked in early childhood education, gaining experience with children from infancy to age 12. Starting as an infant/toddler teacher, Anita has advanced to roles including lead teacher, training coach, and director. She believes that educators serve as advocates and caregivers for the children in their care, emphasizing the importance of nurturing each child's unique development. Anita is committed to meeting children where they are, recognizing that every child is different. Outside of professional life, Anita is a proud parent to three wonderful sons. They inspire her daily through curiosity and creativity. Anita cherishes the time spent with her sons exploring new interests, sharing experiences, traveling and watching them grow. Now in her role as a director, Anita is excited to share her knowledge and experiences with other educators, helping to foster their love for early childhood education. She is grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn alongside her colleagues at CCDC.

About Monica: Monica Tyson is a honors graduate of West Stanly High School and Rowan Cabarrus Community College where she received her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood. She is currently working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood. Monica has been a team member since March 2008 and comes with more than 21 years of experience. She has a passion for working with children and making a difference in their lives. Monica’s purpose is to educate, guide, and help children to be successful in all areas of growth and development. She is very motivated and strives for success while giving back to her community. Monica’s focus is to provide high quality education and build strong relationships with the staff and families she serves on a daily basis.

Artrice Feamster

Artrice, a director at Main Center, assists at Main and our four Cornerstone locations. Born and raised in Rowan County, NC, she resides there with her daughter, Brooklyn. She’s thrilled to work with administrators, staff, children, and the community. Artrice holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Studies from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, with a concentration in Family Relations. She also possesses Level 3 Early Childhood Administration Credentials. Currently, she’s pursuing a graduate degree in Leadership and Administration in Early Childhood Education. With over nine years of experience in childcare, Artrice’s career began as a floating teacher, working with infants through pre-k. Over time, she advanced to co-lead teacher in the two-year-old’s room and later in various classrooms, ranging from two-year-olds to pre-k. She believes educators should remain open and adaptable. After nine years of teaching, she transitioned into leadership roles, starting as the curriculum specialist/assistant director. This position allowed her to mentor and support others while ensuring the center’s overall competitiveness. In her free time, Artrice enjoys vacations, outings with her daughter, family time, fishing, and shopping. She eagerly anticipates her journey with CCDC, looking forward to growing with the team and contributing innovative ideas to uphold the center’s legacy of excellence.
